A route network planning method for urban air delivery

High-tech giants and start-ups are investing in drone technologies to provide urban air delivery service, which is expected solve the last-mile problem mitigate road traffic congestion. However, service will not scale up without proper management for drones dense environment. Currently, a range of Concepts Operations (ConOps) unmanned aircraft system (UTM) being proposed evaluated by researchers, operators, regulators. Among these, tube-based (or corridor-based) ConOps has emerged operations some regions world deliveries continue serving certain scenarios that with complex airspace requires centralized control future. Towards ConOps, we develop route network planning method design routes (tubes) environment this paper. In method, propose priority structure decouple problem, NP-hard, into single-path problems. We also introduce novel space cost function enable aligned network. The tested on various compared other state-of-the-art methods. Results show our can generate near-optimal networks significant computational time-savings. • Developed path areas. Proposed prioritization framework multi-path planning. Created routes. Showed faster time state-of-art Demonstrated real-world scenario.
